Come hell or high water, I'm going to find one of these and rock the sh*t out of it.
Another edition of great music artists on kids' shows. Today we have Stevie Wonder singing "Superstition" on Sesame Street.
WANT his sunglasses.
One hell of a woman and an artist. "Corporate Cannibal" is from her upcoming album "Hurricane" due out in October.
And a great video for the song "Slave to the Rhythm."
And Pee-Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special where she performs "The Little Drummer Boy" as as only she could. The woman has one hell of a stylist.
One of my favorite things to play with when I was young: cornstarch + water. Here, it's been placed over a sub-woofer.
Since that video has been removed by the user, here's another non-Newtonian liquid experiment.
A great video from the Public Service Administration highlighting the depressingly over-looked issue of McCain cursing at his wife in the most misogynist way.

Click here for link! That's Brianna. She sings, dances, and generally has a lot of fun. You should watch the rest of her videos here. Her brother Jalen is awesome too.
Here's a Boing Boing TV video featuring David Byrne and his crazy musical installation, Playing the Building.
The NYT today published a short, but impactful essay written by a gynecologist who treated women before the Roe v. Wade decision, when it was a dangerous game getting (or giving yourself) an abortion for most.
The familiar symbol of illegal abortion is the infamous “coat hanger” — which may be the symbol, but is in no way a myth. In my years in New York, several women arrived with a hanger still in place. Whoever put it in — perhaps the patient herself — found it trapped in the cervix and could not remove it.
However, not simply coat hangers were used.
Almost any implement you can imagine had been and was used to start an abortion — darning needles, crochet hooks, cut-glass salt shakers, soda bottles, sometimes intact, sometimes with the top broken off.
Are we ready and willing to go back to the 1950's? Is this what we want for a 21st century society?
Huff Post resurrected this video to remind everyone what kind of idiot we have running our country.

I read Consumerist everyday, and rarely do the comments piss me off as much as they did yesterday on this post. The post is about an Xbox Live player who was asked to change his gamer tag. His tag, TheGayerGamer, was apparently offensive to many people on Xbox Live. The irony of people being offended on Xbox Live is not lost on me. These people are playing horribly violent games and are constantly taunting each other with derogatory language, so why the hell do they care that his name is TheGayerGamer? I don't think it's because they want to protect the LGBT population from discrimination...
I don't think Microsoft is anti-gay. I am just disappointed that people are offended by someone expressing the fact that he's gay. It should be no different than if someone called themselves the TheBlackGamer or TheIrishGamer.
The fun part about all of this, is that I submitted it to Digg, and it has been Dugg 848 times, has 388 comments and is on page 3 of the Top in 24!
Gawker has posted resurrected footage of Bill O'Douchebag yelling like a lunatic because he can't do his own job. Oh Bill, you've always been a real sweetheart.
Sue Simmons was my newscaster growing up (odd how she has barely aged) and it's just really weird to hear her yelling a curse.
UPDATE: This video is no longer available, so instead watch the video below it of Sue doing the news in 1983!
The WNBA recently unveiled its plans to boost support for the league and its bottom line: femme-ing up its players. Instead of focusing on the amazing athleticism these women possess, instead of putting more money behind marketing and media for the teams and the league, their answer is to make these athletes "women first." There are all sorts of gender issues here: the sexualization of women, the homophobia that exists in sports, women forced to change instead society moving forward. It's just disgusting that we are still forced to deal with things like this in 2008.
Below is a commentary from Feministing.com's "Friday Fuck You" series on YouTube. (Definitely worth subscribing to.) Also check out the discussion on Feministing.com here.
So Comcast is now on Twitter. While this makes me want to puke quite a bit (especially the name Comcast Cares) I do think it's a step in the right direction. Comcast is an evil behemoth corporation and the thought of them trying to become more "personal" just doesn't seem right, but at least maybe they are listening to consumer complaints and trying to do something about it. A perfect example of my love/hate relationship with Social Media.
<And yes, I was reading the unofficial Facebook blog. For work, I swear. Damn marketing agencies.>
A couple of Santogold remixes and an original track by a friend:

It's especially interesting when this push for new buildings becomes very literally destructive - in this case the crane that ripped through the apartments and lives of a few East Side tenants. The New York Times published a follow-up story today illustrating what's wrong with the New York real estate situation:
'Given the perverse logic of Manhattan real estate, the crane accident, a symbol of runaway development in New York, may end up paving the way for even more of it. “The landlord has no motivation to do repairs when he could tear a building down and build a highly profitable office tower instead,” says Adam Leitman Bailey, the lawyer for Crave Ceviche Bar.'
And so it goes. Property owners are extremely influential and hold much power over the future and culture of a city. And with money it seems as their sole motivator, our neighborhoods and our values do not stand a chance.
1) I can't believe people have enough time to train their dogs to do this.
2) I want to do this with my dog!
